Today, the most common sailboat is the sloop which features one mast and two sails, a normal mainsail and a foresail. This simple configuration is very efficient for sailing towards the wind. The mainsail is attached to the mast and the boom, which is a spar capable of swinging across the boat, depending on the direction of the wind. Depending on the size and design of the foresail it can be called a jib, genoa, or spinnaker; it is possible but not common for a sloop to carry two foresails from the one forestay at one time (wing on wing). The forestay is a line or cable running from near the top of the mast to a point near the bow. The semi-tailored boat covers are also available in a wide array of shapes to suit different types of boats. They also offer similar protection and resistance features as their tailor-made counterparts. Boat lift canopies, while providing a certain degree of protection, are not as extensive as the tailor-made or semi-tailor made boat covers.
Boat covers may be obtained directly from suppliers and distributors and carry a five-year warranty on the products.

There is no engineering limit to the size of jet boats, though the validity of their use depends a lot on the type of application. Classic prop-drives are generally more efficient and economical at low speeds (up to about 20 knots) but as boat speed increases beyond this the extra hull resistance generated by struts, rudders, shafts etc means waterjets are more efficient in the 20-50 knot range. Also, in situations where you need very large propellers turning at slow speeds (such as tug boats) the equivalent size waterjet would be simply too big to be practical. For these reasons the vast majority of waterjet units are installed in high speed vessels and in particular situations where shallow draught, manoeuvrability and load flexibility are main concerns.
