Hints About fish and ski boat

Day sailing yachts are usually small sub-20-feet (6 m) in length. Sometimes called dinghies, they often have a retractable keel, centerboard, or daggerboard. Most day sailing yachts do not have a cabin, as they are designed for hourly or daily use and not for overnight journeys. At best they may have a 'cubby', where the front part of the hull has a raised solid roof to provide a place to store equipment or to provide basic shelter from wind or spray.

Most personal water craft are designed for two or three people, though four-passenger models exist. Stand-up PWCs were first to see mass production and are still popular for single riders. The invention of both major types of PWC is credited to Clayton Jacobson II of Arizona, originally a motocross enthusiast.

Water Treatment For Tanks On Yachts and Boats in general.

Sat, 18 Aug 2007 14:04:16 +0200
Tony Herrick from Cruising Connections asked whether this product was worth considering for the boating industry. The product is made in S Africa and is approved by the SA Burough of Standards and in use by the local Military amongst many other govt. and semi-govt. organizations and private groups. The retail cost for the water treatment would be in the region of about US$20 per 1,000 liters of water. The best for me is that this treatment is odourless and tasteless (Chlorine and bleach free). Please give your comments.

Boat Lifts - The Importance of Using Boat Lifts!

By Abhishek Agarwal

Many a time, the owners of a fishing vessel may question the necessity of buying a boat lift and this may be so in the case a boat owner does not understand the importance of this piece of equipment in relation to a boat's maintenance needs. Boat owners investing in a boat lift or considering buying one need to realize that this vital component of a boat's maintenance requirements helps keeps the external surface of a boat clean and free from damage that can occur when one has to reach the inaccessible parts of a boat.

Understanding the real function of a boat lift as a useful cleaning support device that lifts the vessel out of water and keeps it air-suspended so you can reach it to clean, wax and dry it properly besides inspecting it on occasion so the hull is dirt-free, goes a long way in ensuring the life and value of your boat.

Different categories of boat lifts

Chiefly, ,there are 3 kinds of boat lifts in the market today; depending on your need and the place of storage, buyers can invest in the following:

1. Floating boat lifts - work on the air tank principle; when this is filled with air, the tank lifts the boat and once air is released, the boat gets lowered. This kind of boat lift can be used with seawalls, standing docks as well as floating dock areas.

2. Standing boat lifts - are ideal for constant water level storage areas but should be avoided for use in ocean waters as tidal wave changes affect the water level more than a few feet, which is the criterion for using it effectively. On cranking up a big wheel attached to a lever, these can be easily operated.

3. Mounted boat lifts - raise the boat up between seawalls or pilings and are anchored to with the use of cables or slings, which are generally powered by a motor. This enables the lift to effectively lift the boat up and outside water levels.

Benefits of using a boat lift

Mainly, the benefits of using boat lifts include keeping boat clean, raising its longevity, is protecting the hull of the boat from sea-algae and water-stains, all of which can result in faster depreciation of the value of a boat and also does away with the need for a fresh paint job!

A money-saving proposition, the boat lifts are a big help for owners looking to protect their expensive vessel from storm-damage and scratches, cracks and other nature-induced ill-effects, thereby keeping it looking good for a long time. Thus, experts advise boat owners to invest a little extra in buying boat lifts that increase all these advantages of owning a vessel with a long life and lots of fun in coming years.

Safety considerations in buying a jet ski are of the first import. For example, most modern jet skis have a lanyard. The lanyard turns the jet ski off automatically if you fall off or overturn the jet ski. A very old jet ski may not have a lanyard, so be certain to ascertain that a used jet ski has one prior to purchasing.

Yacht "No Komis" Epirb Activated - Indonesia

Thu, 6 Dec 2007 10:43:49 +0200
We just got this message from a friend's wife. Her husband's EPIRB (Yacht NO KOMIS) went off and he dropped off the nets and e-mail. The local SAR does not seem to have many assets/capabilities. We don't know Indonesia very well, anyone have any suggestions as to any other actions she should take?

"Great to hear from you and get the photos. Life is stressful for me right now. Terry and his yacht "No Komis" are the subject of a search by Search & Rescue, Indonesia. The EPIRB went off last Saturday afternoon, transmitted for about 25 hours and stopped. There has been no Sailmail since Nov 28. Terry was leaving the next day for a brief overnight passage of 100nm. This could be a series of events, none serious, but then again, who knows. Any one thing is no problem, but putting them together does make you wonder what has happened. ......"

Sailing/cruising To Achieve One's Goals.

Sun, 19 Aug 2007 16:55:16 +0200
After reading Liz Clark's sailing blog, my husband and I started talking about what was so refreshing about it (besides the good grammar and pics!). Well, the thing that jumped out was the fact that this cruiser wasn't identifying herself as a cruiser but instead as a surfer-girl. Her outlook on life, her goals, where she's going and what she's doing doesn't simply focus on "cruising" for the sake of cruising. We realized that we were craving another viewpoint like this. We absolutely love to hear about people who are achieving another life goal where sailing/cruising happens to be a conduit to the achievement. What do you all think?

A Quality Boat That You Can Take With You On Your Next Fishing Trip

By Trevor Kugler

Having a boat to fish from really gives the angler an advantage. There are so many more area's to access from a boat as opposed from walking along the bank. If you've never considered a quality inflatable boat for your fishing needs, you may want to. A quality inflatable is amazingly easy set up and also quite affordable. A quality inflatable boat may be something worth keeping in mind.

Many fishermen fish from shore because they don't have a boat. Let's face it, boats are expensive. Who's got thousands of extra dollars to spend on a boat? Many of us don't have that kind of extra money, but now there are affordable and convenient alternatives. It may sound crazy, but you may want to give a quality inflatable boat a shot. There are many advantages to owning a quality inflatable boat, and some of those advantages would include :

- Access to otherwise unaccesable water - Easy assembly - Lightweight - Stable

Having a boat that you can take with you anywhere does have it's advantages. If you like to camp or have a RV, how nice and easy would it be to take a boat with you, if that boat were inflatable? When you have to trailer and tow your boat, it can become more of a pain in the butt to take it. An inflatable would be easy to take with you. Just throw it in your car or RV and if you want to use it, great, if you don't, no problem, just leave it in its bag. A quality boat, that you can take with you on your next fishing trip may be something worth considering.

Tips About seadoo jetski

Before purchasing any jet ski, one should consider ones ability to store and to tow the jet ski. Generally a jet ski is best stored in an indoor environment, such as a shed or garage. One may need ample power or a towing package to tow the jet ski to lakes or the coast. A jet ski that cant be moved isnt going to provide a lot of fun.

Repairing a inflatable boat yourself is a difficult and often costly task. It is a complex procedure and the glue, solvents, fabrics and tools required are not easy to get and are usually expensive. However, most dealers stock these items and will sell you them, some will even offer directions and advice. Be warned though that "self repairs" may end in a visit to the dealer anyways, so a dealer evaluation before you try is always the best idea to determine the difficulty of the repair.

Boat Transports

By Jonny Holderbrock

Getting a large boat from here to there may seem simple just sail there! Ah, but this is often impossible given large land masses, which brings us to the issue of boat transports.

There is no question that the best way to get your boat from point A to point B is to sail it there. Some time this is not possible for the simple reason that there is no water between these two points. This is where boat transport comes into play. Of course, smaller boats have their own trailers and even many larger boats have them. It is the real large boats that require special trucking services. Many boat trucking companies are called yacht moving companies for this reason.

The boat trucking companies offer water to water service. They will pick up the boat from its original mooring and transfer it to any location in the world. The trucking companies are often called relocation companies for this reason. They provide everything that you need to safely relocate your boat from one location to the other. In many cases, there are even professional pilots available in the event that some part of the transfer must be on water.

Preparation for travel is one of the most important factors in the safe boat trucking of your boat. Despite all efforts to prevent damage, moving the boat over a highway is risky. If preparation is done properly, the risk is minimized. It is important to remove all protruding antennas or rigging. All loose items must be properly stowed and secured. It is very important to insure that all items of value and personal items are removed from the boat and transported separately. In almost every case, the boat trucking company will not assume responsibility for the loss of valuables or personal items.

There is some controversy about shrink wrapping the boat prior to transfer. Some boat trucking companies offer this service, and some owners have it done themselves prior to transport. It is essential that the shrink wrapping is done properly because if it tears during transport it will usually result in damage from flapping shrink wrap or abrasion.

Insurance is another issue. Most boat trucking companies will provide the opportunity to procure insurance coverage for the move. This insurance can supplement your existing insurance if it has transport provisions. In either case, a through inspection of the boat and accurate documentation of the boats condition before the move and after the move is essential. There are going to be times when large boats must be transported across land for one reason or another. When this happens, there are some very competent boat trucking companies ready to do it with a minimum of fuss.

Marinas are the top of the range as far as moorings are concerned. Moorings in a marina tend to provide deep water throughout the day and therefore a jetty or pontoon is provided so that you can walk to your boat without getting wet. These are known as Pontoon Moorings. They will also provide most of the facilities that you require whilst using your boat. These may include showers and toilets, chandlery, parking, cafe and even a clubhouse. The security provided by a marina will be good and in many cases will include electronic access gates and CCTV camaras.

Luxury sailing yachts generally 82 ft or longer, in recent years, these yachts have evolved from fairly simple vessels with basic accommodation into sophisticated and luxurious boats. This is largely due to reduced hull-building costs brought about by the introduction of fibreglass hulls, and increased automation and "production line" techniques for yacht building, especially in Europe.
