Boat Loans - Obtaining the Best Rates

By David Faulkner

Having a boat is a dream that many men secretly nurture. It's one of the major purchases anyone can make, probably as important as buying a home! A car is something that everyone needs to buy, but a boat is already considered a luxury.

The major decision to purchase a boat brings about the question of how you are going to pay for it. It's good if you can pay in cash, but oftentimes, this is not the case. It is a relief to find out that you can now avail of boat loans to pay for your boat purchase. If you look around, you may be able to scout for the best competitive interest rate in town.

The local bank is the primary institution to obtain boat loans. It offers competitive interest rates and if you are a valued client, you may even be granted preferential rates that may either be fixed or variable for a term of six months. The loans officer of the bank will require you to submit documentary requirements before processing boat loans.

Aside from the bank, a credit union is also an ideal source for boat loans. If you happen to get rejected by the bank, or if the bank rate does not suit your budget, the credit union may just have something for you. It caters to almost all types of land and water vehicles and they can offer competitive rates as a come-on to would be clients. You may make inquiries on boat loans over the phone by talking to the loans officer.

Boat distributors may also offer boat loans with special terms. This alternative seems to be the best arrangement because you get to finance the purchase of your boat and obtain a warranty and maintenance for the same from just a single location.

Processing of boat loans entails evaluation of the loan clients and thus may take a longer time to be released. However, the savings you can get out of minimal interest rates is worth the wait. Canvassing interest rates at other sources can help you secure the best boat loans deal to suit your budget.

Tips On motor boat

Luxury sailing yachts generally 82 ft or longer, in recent years, these yachts have evolved from fairly simple vessels with basic accommodation into sophisticated and luxurious boats. This is largely due to reduced hull-building costs brought about by the introduction of fibreglass hulls, and increased automation and "production line" techniques for yacht building, especially in Europe.

Before 1990, personal watercraft emissions were unregulated in the United States. Many were powered by two-stroke cycle engines, which are smaller and lighter than four-stroke cycle engines but much more polluting. Simple two-stroke engines are lubricated on a "total loss" method, mixing lubricating oil with their fuel; they are estimated to exhaust in excess of 25% of their fuel and oil unburned in addition to the products of incomplete and complete combustion.

In a jetboat, the waterjet draws water from beneath the hull where it passes through a series of impellers and stators - known as stages - which increase the velocity of the waterflow. Most modern jets are single stage while older waterjets may have as many as three stages. The tail section of the waterjet unit extends out through the transom of the hull above the waterline. This jetstream exits the unit through a small nozzle at high velocity to push the boat forward. Steering is accomplished by moving this nozzle to either side, or less commonly, by small gates on either side that direct the jetstream. Because the jet boat relies on the flow of water through the nozzle for control, it is not possible to steer a conventional jet boat without the throttle open.

Jet Ski Engine Maintenance Tips

By Low Jeremy

Jet skis are personal watercrafts that will sure leave you hurling for more in open waters. However, to be able to make the most out from them (besides their tag prices are so high that you must really get the deal from your precious vehicle), you have to know what keeps it in good working condition.

Other jet ski parts aside, jet ski engines are probably the most important part of the whole machine. It drives the watercraft, it gives the power. Depending on the condition, they provide the performance and create the envying waves. Well, in fact jet ski engines are the ones that will keep the machine running.

In fact, when your buying for a jet ski especially those that are sold second hand, the looks wont say it all. It is always the engine that would spell the difference. In fact, the more the scratches while the engine is working on its optimum power, the better the deal. The engine therefore, gives the life for the vehicle.

The whole PWC is useless when it's not working right? Well, maintenance for your jet ski engine does not entail demanding routines. As a sample, it would be good to note that the engine, for it to work properly must always be supplied with enough oil. (that isn't hard right?)

Oil provides the lubrication. This is vital since once the jet ski engine lacks oil, fusing of parts would be possible.

Another thing, flush water from your engine regularly. Lake water may do but algae and dirt normally cause buildup in the engine parts which may eventually cause the decline in performance of the machine. If you are using your jet ski in salt water however, you have to assure to it that salt water is flushed before storing it.

Salt, once it builds up can actually cause you serious problems. These are quite hard to remove and you have no other option but to painstakingly remove them by means other than using hot water (one of the most effective medium for removing salt deposits. After all, you can never use hot water in cleaning a cooling system.

You need also to have a close watch on the impeller. Minerals, dirt, weeds and algae can all get deposited in the impeller which in the end, will drop down the performing capacity of your jet ski. Remember to clear these once you get out from water.

Other than these jet ski engine tips, please check for the specific engine maintenance as stipulated in your PWC manual.

Inflatable tenders are much easier to store than conventional dinghies. When deflated and folded into its carry bag a typical 8 foot inflatable measures about 3 feet x 2 feet and weighs about 80 lbs. At this size, you can see that an inflatable tender is easily stowed in a locker on board, below decks or in a closet or shed at home. They're also very convenient to take on picnics or on vacation, even in a small car.

Sailing equipment is an important part of the purchase of a new or second-hand boat. It is one of those things where you can spend as much money as you wish on equipment for your new cruiser or sailing yacht, so you must give yourself a budget. Obviously, there is a set of essential equipment that all water goers must have, but then there are different sets of equipment required, dependent on whether you will be messing around locally or being more adventurous with long off-shore trips.

Traditional sailboats are monohulls, but multi-hull catamarans and trimarans are gaining popularity. Monohull boats generally rely on ballast for stability, and generally are known as displacement hulls. This stabilizing ballast can be on the order of multiple tons of lead, for a 12m (39 Ft.) boat. However, it creates two problems; one, that this gives the monohull a tremendous inertia, making it less maneuverable and reducing its acceleration. Secondly, if the boat ever fills with water, it will sink immediately, without question.

Buying a Jet Ski - The Must Know Tips

By Al Wood

Buying a jet ski is a big investment. Far too many people go into the process of buying a jet ski without any real idea of what they are doing. This puts you at a big disadvantage as the dealer will have a huge knowledge advantage over you. Far too many people are complacent about this and believe that the dealer has your best interests at heart. This is not the case. They will not necessarily give you the best advice but that which suits them best. As a result, you may end up paying over the odds for a jet ski that doesn't fit your needs. Needless to say, this is not the outcome you want.

So how do you avoid this situation? By arming yourself with all the details necessary to make an informed decision.

Research Your Jet Ski Buying Decision

Just a few years ago, it would be very difficult for all but an expert to be able to access a huge vault of jet ski knowledge. In order to compare the specifications of various jet skis, you would have to visit many dealers and ask careful questions. Search carefully through catalogues and compare statistics.

Luckily, the job of research is much easier now a days. Today, all that is required is internet access. This makes sourcing the data on various jet skis and seeing how they compare an absolute breeze. Be sure to arm yourself with these statistics before you go out on your jet ski buying trip.

Buying Second Hand

Buying second hand is a great way to pick up a high quality personal water craft at a bargain price. It is often said that the value of a new car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot. The same thing could be said of jet skis (except, of course, you won't be driving it off the lot). New jet skis lose their value very quickly.

If you are willing to buy a used jet ski, this is a great advantage. However, there are dangers too. If at all possible, take someone with you who has experience with jet skis. Their knowledge will be invaluable when it comes to assessing whether a PWC is sea worthy. And if it isn't, how much it will cost to get it into shape.

Don't Be Afraid To Haggle

Most jet ski dealers will have some room for maneuver when it comes to the price at which they sell a particular jet ski. Don't be afraid to step up and fight for the best deal when you buy. The dealer certainly won't be shy when it comes to striking up a deal and neither should you.

To get the most out of your purchase, it is vital that you get yourself in the right frame of mind. You have to know what you want, how much you expect to pay and what you are willing to accept. For any jet ski novice, this is a very tall order. But with a little bit of research and thought, you might just walk away with the bargain jet ski of your dreams.

Hints About seadoo jet boat

In June 1998 the European Union (EU) initiated a Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) which introduced minimum standards that new boats built within the EU or imported into it have to meet. This directive applies to all pleasure boats with a hull length of more than 2.50 metres but less than 24.00 metres, and it divides the boats into four categories of sea going suitability. This can only be used as a guide as they give minimum standards only. Note that January 2005 saw an amendment to this directive come into effect. For more detailed information about this directive please go to www.dti.gov.uk/strd/recreat.html.

A major component of an inflatable boat is obviously the fabric. Inflatable boat fabric technology has evolved greatly over the last 20 to 30 years, and now includes plastomers, polyurethanes and other fabrics, which can sometimes be stronger, lighter, thinner and less expensive to assemble than the original rubber fabrics. Of course it costs a great deal of money to develop new fabrics or even to switch manufacturing processes to use them. Many manufacturers, big and small, don't have the will or the resources to do this, and that's why they generally hide that fact by resorting to condemning new technological advances in fabrics.

All vessels have keels, it is the backbone of the hull. In traditional construction it is the structure upon which all else depends. Modern monocoque designs include a virtual keel. Even multihulls have keels. On a sailboat the word Keel is also used to refer to the area that is added to the hull to improve its lateral plane. The lateral plane is what prevents leeway and allows sailing towards the wind. This can be an external piece or a part of the hull.

Buying a Boat?

By Jason Albright
Jason AlbrightJason Albright is a contributing editor at Cookgroup Marketing LLC. His background is with lifestyle topics including: Gardening, Outdoor Living, Home Decor, Travel Destinations ... ...

Buying a boat can be exciting and exhilarating, if you go about the process correctly. Many a boat buyer has come across frustration and disappointment because he or she did not take the time to do the proper research that is needed to buy a boat. Selecting the ideal boat is a real art, and can be a daunting task if you've never purchased a boat before.

To make the process easier for you, first consider the purpose of your boat. For example, if you are going to buy a fishing boat you will need to keep in mind the features and elements that you need in order to fish. Picking the type of boat you need will narrow down your options, as will the area that you plan to use your boat on. Boats used on the ocean are very different from those that are used on a lake or river. Consider also if your boat will be used for overnight stays or be used on rough waters.

The next consideration is your boat budget. Do some research and find out how far your money will go when buying a boat for your specific purposes. You might find out you may need to invest more to get a quality boat in your category, or you may be surprised to find that your budgeted amount will get you more boat than you expected.

Finally, pay attention to warranties that come with your boat. Boats of any type should come with a warranty and you need to know the details of the warranty before you buy the boat. You should analyze the boat warranty with scrutiny before buying and understand exactly what is covered and what is not. It is sometimes best to buy from a boat dealer that can provide services and replacements if the boat is found to be defective.

Boat Lemon Laws

By Damian Sofsian

Have you purchased a boat lately? A jet ski, maybe? Whatever watercraft you may have purchased, as long as the craft is under two years old, you may be able to apply the lemon law if it is repeatedly experiencing some defects.

As long as the defect in your watercraft is covered by the manufacturers warranty, all you have to do is allow the manufacturer substantial opportunity to make the necessary repair to the defective boat. If after several attempts to remedy the problem in your craft you are still unable to find a solution to the problem, under the lemon law, you are given the right to demand an outright replacement with a new boat or a refund for the purchase you made.

Before filing a lawsuit, you have to be aware of the lemon law in your state. The laws that exist vary from state to state. Also, you have to make sure that you meet all the requirements before filing a case. It does not matter which part of the boat contains the defect; as long as it meets the criteria, you have a case. The defect must be covered by the manufacturers warranty; the manufacturer should be given the opportunity to fix the defect of the boat and each time the remedy is tried, it has to fail. Additionally, the vehicle has to have been purchased within the number of years allowed by the state. If these criteria are met, then you can consider demanding compensation, a full refund, or a replacement vehicle from the manufacturer.

If the manufacturer is unwilling to comply with the lemon law, it would be best to hire a lawyer to defend your case. Even if your situation does not qualify under the lemon laws, there are attorneys who are able to claim damages for the manufacturers defects.

Boat Movers

By Kristy Annely

If one is moving to another part of the country, everything in the household has to be relocated. If someone in the house owns a boat, moving it safely will be a prime concern.

Boat movers require the boat to be properly prepared for transporting. They will not move the boat unless certain details are taken care of. The doors need to be closed properly. Batteries and cables must be disconnected. Boats should be covered by shrink-wrap. The shrink-wrap is a heat sealed surface to ward off hot sun and water from chafing the surface. Wooden boats are transported in a custom cradle. Most boat movers do not accept responsibility for damage if the boat was not prepared for transport.

The driver transporting the boat will carry out a survey of the exteriors of the boat. He makes a report of the condition of the boat. Damages if any have to be reported while taking delivery of the boat.

The transporters haul boats and yachts of all sizes. These services have qualified skippers and good crew. They give detailed information on port delivery, freight and insurance. Training is given on boat navigation, sailing and boat handling.

The most common and recommended type of boat moving service is the roll on roll off type. It is commonly called the RO/RO. The boat is towed on a trailer or a cradle into the ship and parked on the lower deck. During the journey the boat is secured in the deck. So there is no damage. The ship then carries the boat to its destination. When the boat reaches its destination it is driven off again in the trailer or cradle on which it had entered the ship.

If the boat fits the size of a container of a container vessel, then it is transported in the container. For oversized boats, a flat rack and strap is used to secure the boat. Sometimes the boat is loaded directly from the water. In some cases the boat is loaded from a barge into the ship.

The main job of boat movers is to assess the clients needs and transport boats in a timely and safe manner.

They are relatively inexpensive and because they are inflatable they can be set up and packed away easily. Seadoo Sportsters are another attractively priced option at around 20000

Hurricane DEAN - warning for the Caribbean

Fri, 17 Aug 2007 15:36:18 +0200
Hurricane Dean - a warning has been issued for the Caribbean and in particular to St Lucia and Martinique. Dean had been looking a little more ragged on satellite this morning due to some dry air intrusion, and a bit of westerly shear. However recent visible and enhanced IR satellite loops indicate Hurricane Dean's structure has improved, and may be starting the forecasted steady strengthening. In fact, the 5:00 a.m. advisory reported a minimum central pressure of 976 mb or 28.82 inches. This intermediate advisory reports a central pressure of 970 mb or 28.64 inches. This is considered a rapid drop in pressure (defined as a drop of 2.0 mb per hour). Max winds are still at 100 mph, and will take probably a couple of advisories to respond to any pressure drop. Dean is forecast to become a major hurricane in 36 hours, and is forecast between 72 and 96 hours to become a CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE with winds near 145 mph.

Boat Bill Of Sale - 3 Reasons Why You Should Use A Boat Bill of Sale Form

By Darren D King

It is important to utilize a boat bill of sale form when buying or selling a used boat. A bill of sale form provides the seller with proof that the new owner is now legally responsible for the boat. For the buyer, a bill of sale form is proof of purchase that the boat is theirs.

When utilizing a boat bill of sale form, it is suggested that it contains the following;

1. the name and residential address of the purchaser.

2. the name and residential address of the seller.

3. a thorough description of the vessel, including make, model and hull identification number.

4. the sale price.

5. the time and date of sale.

6. the signatures of both the buyer and the seller.

Many states in the US will need you to provide a boat bill of sale form before you can register the boat in your name. It is probable that each state may have a slightly different process by which the registration occurs, but the basic information listed above is common to all states and required everywhere.

A boat bill of sale form when correctly filled out provides protection and security for both the buyer and the seller. The seller is protected as they now have proof as to when the boat was legally transferred. All monies owed or fines accrued on the vessel after this time are now the responsibility of the new owner. Similarly the purchaser is protected as they have a record of the date at which they bought the boat and anything that happened before that date can be shown to be the result of the previous owners actions.

All buyers and sellers of second-hand boats are advised to make use of a boat bill of sale form for their own protection and peace of mind.

Inflatable boats are the ideal yacht tender because of all their basic advantages including: lightness, stability and buoyancy. Unlike regular dinghies, they're easy to lift on board. With special rubstrake glued or thermobonded to their sides, inflatables won't damage or mark your yacht's hull or deck. Purchasing an inflatable tender almost guarantees the elimination of scuff marks and scratches on your yacht forever.

A key feature about all inflatable boats is their incredible stability. Conventional dinghies and small sport boats rock almost uncontrollably whenever anyone moves about. Inflatables, with their buoyancy tubes, sit flat in the water and are almost impossible to flip over. This offers a feeling of security to even the most nervous boaters and allows swimmers or divers to slide back on board without upsetting the boat. More buoyancy of inflatable boats means bigger load-carrying capacity. Inflatable boats are designed with built-in buoyancy. The inflatable collar, or tubeset, is the key that allows inflatable boats to carry very heavy payloads in a safe and stable manner. An added benefit is that they are virtually unsinkable, and can generally operate even with one or more chambers of the collar deflated.

Tips On c&c sailboat

Since Sea Doos come from the factory with about as much power as they could offer and keep reliability, modifications almost always shorten the engines time before a rebuild is needed. Therefore, my philosophy is "if you want to go faster, buy a faster STOCK Sea Doo!". A modified 2 stroke wont last long and is usually the cause of peoples complaints about them. Adding a high compression head and other engine mods will ultimately lead to a rebuild sooner than later. If you want your 2 stroke Sea Doo to go faster, buy a stock Sea Doo with a larger engine!

Most of day sailors (or even weekend sailors) will never really need navigational skills in order to be able to sail where they want. They will probably see the place right over the bow. People who sail further in the oceans, seas, and even on the Great Lakes of North America will - in turn - not get far without even the most elementary knowledge of how to find themselves on the charts, and where to sail next. As a matter of fact, they will sail far, very far - but from the course leading them to their port of destination.

, which use underwater wings or struts to lift the vessel clear of the water, standard jetboats use a conventional planing hull to ride across the water surface, with only the rear portion of the hull displacing any water. With the majority of the hull clear of the water, there is reduced drag, greatly enhancing speed and maneuverability, so jetboats are normally operated at planing speed. At slower speeds with less water pumping through the jet unit, the jetboat will lose some steering control and maneuverability and will quickly slow down as the hull comes off its planing state and hull resistance is increased. However, loss of steering control at low speeds can be negated by lowering the reverse deflector slightly and increasing throttle - so you increase thrust and thus control without increasing boat speed itself. A conventional river-going jet boat will have a shallow-angled (but not flat-bottomed) hull to improve its high speed cornering control and stability while also allowing it to traverse very shallow water. At speed, jetboats can be safely operated in less than 3 inches to (7.5 cm) of water.

Hints On boat

Racing yachts try to reduce the wetted surface area, which creates drag, by keeping the hull light whilst having a deep and heavy bulb keel, allowing them to support a tall mast with a great sail area. Modern designs tend to have a very wide beam and a flat bottom, to provide buoyancy preventing an excessive heel angle. Speeds of up to 35 knots can be attained in extreme conditions. Dedicated offshore racing yachts sacrifice crew comfort for speed, having basic accommodation to reduce weight. Depending on the type of race, such a yacht may have a crew of 15 or more. Very large inshore racing yachts may have a crew of 30.

A sailboat or sailing boat is a boat propelled partly or entirely by sails. The term covers a variety of boats, larger than small vessels such as sailboards and smaller than sailing ships, but distinctions in size are not strictly defined and what constitutes a sailing ship, sailboat, or a smaller vessel (such as a sailboard) varies by region and culture.
